Dear Coworker,

With the final days of 2022 upon us, I’m looking up from the last few months and really noticing all that has been accomplished in 2022. At this time last year, The Corner Coworking was in three Cochrane locations, including a newly launched warehousing space, The Corner Downtown, and I was trying (sometimes unsuccessfully) to manage everything by myself. As we moved out of the restrictions of COVID, we were already growing and had regained the losses for the previous 2-ish years. It was time to start growing again!

In the spring, we added a 4th Cochrane location on River Avenue, which opened with EZ Mobile, Coulee Outdoor, and AMZ Prep filling the first spaces. By then, I really needed help. Enter The Corner’s first official hire…

Stephanie Hines joined as our first employee and first Community Manager in June and immediately became indispensable. I’m not quite sure how I managed before her.

Then, shortly after member requests for a Corner location outside of Cochrane started coming in, an opportunity presented itself in Okotoks. The Town of Okotoks was actively looking for a coworking business to occupy 5,000 square feet of a new, centrally-located, municipally-owned building. It was meant to be.

INTRODUCING THE CORNER – RIVERSIDE

Our new Corner location in The Arts & Learning Campus in Okotoks has been designed and outfitted with our members’ needs in mind while also keeping The Corner’s existing brand personality at the forefront.

It’s a brand new building with lots of natural light from big windows that look out onto the wooded river valley on one side and downtown Okotoks and the rail tracks on the other.

We have space for the same full-time, part-time, and casual memberships we have in Cochrane but we are also introducing another level of membership called the Community Membership that is directed at people who currently use the library and/or coffee shops for work. For $20 per day, they can access our space to use the Wi-Fi, socialize, and be part of our community.

Another great feature of The Corner Okotoks is the Flex Event space, which I hope will be used by all our members from any location who want to host workshops, seminars, presentations or meetings of up to 30 people. As a Corner Member, you are able to use this space at discounted rates. Let us know when you want more information.

We are now on target to officially open the Okotoks space for memberships in January and welcome each of our existing members to book space there too. Your Corner memberships extend to any of our locations, not just your ‘home’ location.

MEET KERRI ANN, COMMUNITY MANAGER IN OKOTOKS

The new location made another new hire necessary, and we were lucky enough to find Kerri Ann Colby, a former local business owner and current Okotoks resident who has a passion for both business and community. In the months since she joined in October, she has been working hard to introduce The Corner to people in her network and beyond.

Thanks to each of our members and supporters for what has been a fantastic year of growth for The Corner Coworking. It might go without saying, but I’ll say it anyway…we couldn’t do this without you.
